We are proud to offer our patients a friendly and bright atmosphere – specially designed and decorated to help your kids feel comfortable during their visit. We are confident that your children will thoroughly enjoy their visit while they receive treatment from our wonderful staff.
What is a pediatric dentist?
Pediatric dentists are dental specialists receiving 2-3 years of pediatric specialty training beyond dental school. They are dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teen years. They have the experience and qualifications to care for a child’s teeth, gums, and mouth throughout the various stages of childhood. Our energetic team is trained for working with children, and our office is designed exclusively for children. Our office is equipped with several televisions throughout the treatment areas with child-friendly movies playing. We also have ipads, video games, books and stuffed animals to make your child feel right at home.
We are located at our brand new South Cooper location in Arlington, Texas, and currently welcoming new patients! Call us today at (817) 465-0044 or email us at info@arlingtonkidsdentist.com for more information!
What To Expect During Your Visit
During your first visit to Arlington Pediatric Dentistry, you’ll be greeted by one of our friendly practice receptionists who will direct you to completing a medical history form and other required paperwork for your child. We encourage all of our first-time patients and their parents/guardians to download and complete these forms from our website (link to the right on this page). This will help save you waiting time in our reception area and ensure that your child is seen on time by Dr. Ketchel and her staff!
Our staff will also inform you about your payment options for your child’s visit, including any information pertaining to accepted dental insurance plans. If you are unsure about whether or not your insurance provider will cover your visit, please call us so we may help verify your insurance benefits with our practice.
The ADA (American Dental Association) and the AAPD (American Association of Pediatric Dentists) recommend bringing children for their first dental visit by age one to establish a dental home.
During the first visit, you will be invited back with your child. We review your child’s medical and dental history, home care, brushing and flossing, food and diet habits, and oral habits.
For infants and toddlers, the dentist will perform a “knee to knee” exam with a parent holding the child. The dentist will examine the teeth, mouth, and gums. The dentist also brushes the child’s teeth and apply a professional fluoride treatment.
For children 3 years and older, many children are able to sit in the dental chair and have their teeth cleaned by the dental hygienist. They will also take dental x-rays as needed in the complete diagnosis of your child’s dental health.
During future visits, once your child is school aged (5 and older), we respectfully request that parents remain in the reception area while we care for your child. Studies and experience have show that most children react more positively when permitted to experience the dental visit on their own and in an environment designed for children. Our goal is to gain your child’s confidence and help him or her overcome any apprehension.
